In keeping with the core business of pharmaceutical company, this new office fitout achieves a crisp, clinical look.Corporate office design is commonly determined by both the culture of a company and its core business. When international pharmaceutical company Amgen relocated to new Sydney premises, there was an opportunity for the designers to explore both these elements.
Designer Andrean Orpen of Group GSA says many aspects of the new fitout, such as the space standards, were already determined by a corporate facilities management plan developed by the US parent company and CFM Group. However, for the public areas, incluidng reception, the designers were given a creative licence Amgen's corporate image.
'The fitout needed to reflect the international standing of the company, but there was an opportunity to have a little fun with the pharmaceutical theme,' she says. 'For the reception area we went for a very clean, crisp and clinical look, incorporating high-gloss painted panels on all surfaces.'
The Marblo reception desk, designed to look as thought it is floating, has a plinth of staggered lighting beneath the desk that is reflected in the white stone flooring.
'The flooring ws chosen for its reflective qualities,' says Orpen. 'It also enhances the moody effect archieved when only the desk area is illuminated.'
